It all began on Monday June 20, the day the Asslete and his girl, that’s me, headed west! An adventure with many purposes – to attend Warrior Camp, visit family, find retail locations to sell the calendar, attend Pride Vancouver, you name it – basically a way to get my ass out to BC this summer and have some fun.
A trip through the mountains wouldn’t be complete in my opinion without stopping at some of my favourite places along the way for eats. This meant breakfast at the Summit Café in Canmore where you can have killer coffee, wicked eggs, stellar coffee and sit on the patio and soak up the sun. Now I am not wordsmith and hence my descriptions are not of a culinary nature… but I do know a great breakfast!!! With full bellies we headed into Canmore to hit up some stores to sell. Alas Monday is not a day where owners work in the morning, good for them by the way, so off we headed to Banff for a couple hours. Same dealio – but no worries as the sun was shining hard and we are technically “on vacation.” I remember turning to Mike as we walked down Banff Ave and saying “Can you believe we are working right now and I love it, this is the best work ever.” It is – doing what I love, getting out there, talking to people, being creative, its ideal!
Next stop Golden…however we were able to take some sweet ass (no pun intended) pictures along the way for our little “expose” and stop at my favourite restaurant in Field – The Truffle Pig. However it seems I haven’t gotten my ass out there in a while because the Truffle Pig has relocated across the street and Chercher la Vache has moved in to the cozy little house. We decided to grab a sandwhich and desert at CLV and eat outside in the sun staring into the mountains and watching the CPR trains go by!
We also made it to Revelstoke and were stoked to remember the clocks went back an hour. We were just in time to catch the 6:00 Harry Potter at the local theatre – however I was denied… kind of by myself as I wanted to make it to Sicamous to camp for the night and continue to enjoy the summer weather…. As I am still en route to Sicamous this evening’s journey will remain a mystery….
